The Milwaukee Regional Office administers Compensation, Pension, and Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment benefits and services for beneficiaries who reside in the State of Wisconsin.  The regional office serves a veteran population of approximately 419,000.  Such services include determining disability levels, ensuring proper payment, benefits counseling, determining entitlement to specially adapted housing, and managing fiduciary services.  The Regional Office is further committed to providing extensive outreach for demobilizing veterans as well as homeless veterans.  The Milwaukee VA Regional Office includes one of three Pension Management Centers (PMCs).  The PMC provides benefits and services to recipients of pension and survivor benefits living in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.  The Milwaukee VA Regional Office includes one of six Fiduciary Hubs providing fiduciary oversight for beneficiaries living in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.  The Milwaukee Regional Office is staffed with 635 employees.  To know more about the Milwaukee Regional Office please visit http://www.benefits.va.gov/milwaukee/index.asp.

 

VA structures its SES positions into pay bands. This is a pay band 3 position and the salary range is $119,554 - $165,300. Exceptions to the salary cap may be considered in certain circumstances.

A recruitment or relocation incentive and/or Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs and Appraised Value Offer (formerly Guaranteed Home Buyout) may be authorized.

Duties

The Director, VA Regional Office, reports through the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Area Director to the Deputy Under Secretary for Field Operations. The position requires the effective and economical direction, control, and operation of benefits and services provided by law to veterans, their dependents and beneficiaries. Responsibilities include:

• Lead the regional office in providing benefits and services for veterans, dependents, and beneficiaries 

• Establish policies and procedures consistent with corporate VA guidelines 

• Provide executive leadership and direction to subordinate organizational units 

• Manage available financial and human capital resources (includes presenting of regional budget)

• Direct continuing programs for quality control in regional operations and implements corresponding actions

• Capture changing needs of varying customers via outreach in veteran communities, conventions, etc.
