The incumbent is assigned to the Health Informatics and Telehealth Section under the Office of the Chief of Staff at the McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia. The incumbent provides technical and administrative support for telehealth programs to support video conferencing, staff training, TMS, telehealth clinical encounters from the patient and provider locations for telehealth store and forward applications, Home Telehealth, for real time telehealth events, including patient education activities, technical support, training, help desk, scheduling support, and other program support duties as needed. The incumbent performs a variety of audiovisual duties associated with providing telehealth services to the medical center; serves as a site coordinator and is essential for the technology and training aspects of the intervention, and is part of a clinic team; performs telehealth imaging, using approved telehealth imaging devices, including teleretinal screening, teledermatology and telewound care; assists in patient care under the direct supervision of an independent licensed healthcare provider; and is responsible for developing and coordinating a wide variety of team policies/procedures with full and complete telehealth technical advice, providing support to administer activities and continually adjusting to effect necessary change.


Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Time-in-grade:  Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-7: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in Federal Service. To be creditable, the experience must have required the use of knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics associated with the position. Your application package should reflect the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

1. Ability to use medical equipment in technical operations such as home telehealth, Clinical video teleconferencing, teleretinal screening, teledermatology and telewound care.

2. Ability to use computer equipment with a wide variety of software to input and retrieve data and to prepare a variety of specific working documents and forms.

3. Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand medical histories for the purpose of determining the need of medical surveillance, laboratory tests and further evaluation.

4. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding.

5. Knowledge of anatomy and the methods and practices used in medical treatment to recognize and differentiate emergent, urgent medical conditions based on provided diagnosis.

SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for the GS-7 level, if the education is directly related to the work of the position.
