JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in the Office of Community and Constituent (CCS) Services with in the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). The employee is responsible for constituent services programs, collaborations and international activities, with functions that include building relationships, outreach, training, technical support.

  • Conducts fact-finding and researches material in coordination/preparation for business meetings. Prepares, monitors, tracks, and evaluates Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs). Ensures program reports and materials are timely, clear and concise and thoroughly addresses the issues of interest and concern of the Associate Director. 
  • Facilitates communication and congenial working relationships among staff, program partners, and international professionals. 
  • Serves as the Associate Director’s program assistant and advisor with responsibility for facilitating, planning, and coordinating all administrative related matters.

Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system.  For this position Specialized experience is defined as conducting program research, preparing Memorandums of Agreement and contracts, coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence, and planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, domestic and international travels.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.  
Or Education: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent degree related to the position may be substituted to meet the experience requirements.

Qualification requirements, including one year time-in-grade at the next lower grade level for promotion candidates, must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your application will be evaluated first for the basic qualifications described above.  The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria:

  1. Ability to conduct research in order to prepare proposals and/or MOAs for international partnerships and activities; analyze key issues that may impact the organization’s mission, goals and objectives while assembling this information for reports and other documents.
  2. Ability to speak in public, to present ideas and information clearly and convincingly, and to discuss and negotiate issues with people for multicultural backgrounds. 
  3. Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish is desired.
  4. Ability to plan and coordinate a wide variety of administrative activities to include: scheduling meetings and conferences, making travel arrangements.
  5. Ability to draft and edit correspondence; and prepare contracts and statements of work.
