The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Inspector General (OIG) is currently looking for a Secretary in our Washington, DC office. Join our professional team of criminal investigators in an administrative support capacity and help support DOE's mission.

As a Secretary (Office Automation) with the DOE Office of Inspector General, you would be responsible for:
1. Preparing and processing correspondence.
2. Maintaining files and records.
3. Disseminating information.
4. Compiling and summarizing material.
5. Reviewing and completing various reports.
6. Receiving telephone calls and visitors, maintaining a complete calendar, independently scheduling appointments, meetings, and conferences, making travel arrangements, and ensuring smooth operation of the office.

You may qualify for this position based on specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. To qualify for the GS-6 grade level, you must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include:
1. Experience organizing the flow of clerical processes in an office.
2. Making arrangements for such things as travel, meetings, briefings, and conferences
3. Composing correspondence, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing work; establishing systems for work to be performed timely; preparing reports; and communicating orally with staff and the public.
You must self-certify your proficiency in typing a minimum speed of 40 words per minute. The successful candidate for this position will possess the following KSAs/competencies: (Applicants need not prepare written responses to these KSAs, unless asked in the online application.) 1. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required formats to communicate in writing. 2. Ability to communicate orally. 3. Skill in the use of automated equipment to complete clerical and administrative support functions. 4. Ability to independently coordinate and prioritize various clerical and administrative projects to meet deadlines. 5. Ability to control and track incoming correspondence and actions. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of the announcement in order to be considered.
Appointment to this position may be subject to successful completion of a 1-year probationary period.
This position requires a security clearance and is subject to drug testing. The selectee must test negative prior to being appointed to this position and will be subject to random testing thereafter. Failure to pass subsequent tests could result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the Federal service.
