In the Fall of 2013, this position will relocate to new facilities being constructed at the historic St. Elizabeth’s west campus located at 2701 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, Washington DC 20020. The historic campus is currently under renovation and will eventually serve as the new DHS Consolidated Headquarters Campus. The incumbent serves as a Contracting Specialist with complete responsibility to plan and execute all contractual actions from acquisition planning through contract closeout for a wide variety of major capital assets, supplies and services. The positions are located in the Office of Contract Operations at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters.
Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
- Conducting significant and complex USCG acquisitions involving major systems, diverse supplies and/or services.
- Acting as the business advisor to our operational partners.
- Representing the Coast Guard to oversight staffs both internal and external to DHS, including Congress, GAO and OMB.
- Developing acquisition strategies that achieve desired outcomes and provide appropriate incentives to industry.
- Performing contract administration activities for significant, highly specialized procurements.
- Conducting extensive and sophisticated cost and price analyses, utilizing a full range of financial techniques.
