These are Forestry Technicians (Timber Sale Administration). The incumbent functions as sale administrator on the most complex sales on the unit. These sales are identified as having a combination of three or more complexities.


This position is being concurrently announced under Merit Promotion Announcement Number 13-05130054-06161G-VR-REV. The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.

Duties

Reviews contracts, preliminary logging plans, environment assessments, appraisal, and other sale related documentation to determine that all prerequisites to contract work are completed. Reviews plans and schedules with purchasers to assure understanding of conditions and responsibilities. Responsible for field inspection to ensure control of purchaser operations are adequate. Documents findings for the sale record. Takes appropriate action to correct deficiencies, and assesses penalties when needed.

Reviews plans and schedules with purchasers to assure common understanding of conditions and responsibilities. Throughout the life of the sale, is responsible for continuing field inspection and control of purchaser’s operations such as falling, skidding and yarding, loading, hauling, and all log accountability requirements.

Coordinates sale administration duties with other unit activities. Coordinates activities relating to other resources areas as needed; ensures that resource monitoring is done in a timely manner.
