JOB SUMMARY:

These are Forestry Technicians (Timber Sale Administration). The incumbent functions as sale administrator on the most complex sales on the unit. These sales are identified as having a combination of three or more complexities.


This position is being concurrently announced under Merit Promotion Announcement Number 13-05130054-06161G-VR-REV. Reviews contracts, preliminary logging plans, environment assessments, appraisal, and other sale related documentation to determine that all prerequisites to contract work are completed. Reviews plans and schedules with purchasers to assure understanding of conditions and responsibilities. Responsible for field inspection to ensure control of purchaser operations are adequate. Documents findings for the sale record. Takes appropriate action to correct deficiencies, and assesses penalties when needed.

Reviews plans and schedules with purchasers to assure common understanding of conditions and responsibilities. Throughout the life of the sale, is responsible for continuing field inspection and control of purchaser’s operations such as falling, skidding and yarding, loading, hauling, and all log accountability requirements.

Coordinates sale administration duties with other unit activities. Coordinates activities relating to other resources areas as needed; ensures that resource monitoring is done in a timely manner.

GS-8: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-07). Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience that meet this requirement include: Monitored and inspected timber sale operations having conventional contract requirements and conditions; Interpreted and explained standard timber sale contract provisions, and the rationale behind technical methods to be employed to the timber operator; Developed a schedule and other plans for inspecting timber sales areas for compliance with contract clauses governing resources or accuracy of marking and scaling.

GS-9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-08). Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience that meet this requirement include: Administered timber sales with conventional contract requirements and conditions; Monitored and inspected timber sale operations having conventional contract requirements and conditions; Prepared written reports of all sale inspections and makes follow-ups on deficiencies.

GS-10: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09). Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience that meet this requirement include: Administered timber sales with complex requirements and conditions; Advised purchaser’s field representative of adequacy or inadequacy of operations and achieves compliance with contract terms; Coordinated sale administration duties with other unit timber and related activities.

This evaluation is based on the level of your experience, education, and/or training as determined by your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire.
