The Indian Health Service (IHS) is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN). The IHS goal is to raise Indian health status to the highest possible level. IHS provides leadership and direction to programs and activities designed to improve health outcomes to over 1.9 million AI/AN through a system of IHS, Tribal and Urban operated facilities and programs.

Four permanent full-time positions.  Selection will be made from Vacancy Announcment No. IHS-AQ-945965-ESEP/MP, IHS-13-AQ-946275-DH OR IHS-13-AQ-945337-ESEP/MP, IHS-13-AQ-946230-DE (four selection only). 

This position located at the Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna (ACL) Service Unit reports to the Clinical Director.  The primary purpose of the position is to provide direct primary care providers services at the service unit and at surrounding satellite clinics within the ACL Service Unit.

  • Assess, evaluate, diagnose and initially treat adult and pediatric patients who present with any symptom, illness, injury or condition and provide services necessary to ameliorate minor illness to secure illnesses, injuries, and emergency case.
  • Cares for and discharge patients from the emergency department.
  • Deliver a full range of health care services on the wellness-illness health care continuum to patients of all ages in a variety of setting to include differential diagnosis and disease management, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and health promotion and disease prevention.
