• Serves as a writer-editor and exercises independent judgment and initiative in creating a variety materials as required in support of public information and consumer education programs on a nationwide basis, including FDA Voice blogs and FDA Consumer Updates.

• Coordinates the writing and disseminating of quickly produced materials in conjunction with major agency announcements, including situations where public health may be at risk

• Assists with establishing and maintaining collaborations with external organizations and conducting other activities to increase the reach of FDA consumer health information and blogs.

• Conducts research, interviews, organizes, writes, revises, and clears written materials through the highest levels of the agency under constant deadline pressure, which may require working outside of normal business hours.

• Translates complex terms and language into language easily understandable to the general public (which is assumed to have no more than a high school education).

• Collaborates with the Visual Information Specialist on staff regarding editorial presentation of graphic materials.

• Recommends topics to be covered and exercises editorial judgment regarding the content of materials.

• Loads and maintains web pages in the agency’s automated content management system
