Serves as a writer-editor and exercises independent judgment and initiative in creating a variety materials as required in support of public information and consumer education programs on a nationwide basis, including FDA Voice blogs and FDA Consumer Updates.
Coordinates the writing and disseminating of quickly produced materials in conjunction with major agency announcements, including situations where public health may be at risk
Assists with establishing and maintaining collaborations with external organizations and conducting other activities to increase the reach of FDA consumer health information and blogs.
Conducts research, interviews, organizes, writes, revises, and clears written materials through the highest levels of the agency under constant deadline pressure, which may require working outside of normal business hours.
Translates complex terms and language into language easily understandable to the general public (which is assumed to have no more than a high school education).
Collaborates with the Visual Information Specialist on staff regarding editorial presentation of graphic materials.
Recommends topics to be covered and exercises editorial judgment regarding the content of materials.
Loads and maintains web pages in the agencys automated content management system
