Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study physical education.
GL-07: 1 full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement.
GL-09: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

GL-07: Qualifying experience for the GL-07 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GL-05 level that demonstrated the ability to plan, supervise, administer, or carry out a sports program that includes a variety of team sports. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
- Experience in developing team sports, activities and tournaments.
- Experience in developing and overseeing a recreation program's daily operation and primarily organize and direct participants.
- Experience in developing the skills needed for participation to include teaching the techniques and rules of sports to participants, officials and umpires in a recreational program.
: Qualifying experience for the GL-09 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GL-07 level. Experience at this level provide a thorough knowledge of the physical and psychological factors of individual and team sports and have administered a variety of recreational activities such as team sports, developed recreational program plans and/or budget requirements for a segment of a larger recreational program covering the needs of a diversified target population and a wide variety of sporting events. Applicants at this level have the ability to adapt and develop program activities to meet the divergent needs of an inmate population. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

- Experience in managing or administering a sports program in a community, industrial activity, or secondary school or college.
- Experience in planning, teaching or evaluating a physical education curriculum for secondary or higher academic levels.
- Experience in managing or umpiring, or officiating at amateur or professional athletic events, competitions, or games.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must indicate the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Your application will be evaluated and rated under DOJ's Category Rating and Selection Procedures. Your resume and supporting documentation will be used to determine whether you meet the job qualifications listed on this announcement. If you are qualified for this job, your resume and supporting documentation will be compared to your responses provided to the online assessment questionnaire. Your application will then be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified. Names of all candidates in the best qualified category will be sent to the hiring official for employment consideration. Candidates within the Best Qualified category who are eligible for veterans preference will receive selection priority over non-veteran preference eligibles.
