This position is in the Office of Information Technology located in Washington, DC.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) supports the Commission and staff of the SEC in all aspects of information technology. The Office has overall management responsibility for the Commission's IT program including application development, infrastructure operations and engineering, user support, IT program management, capital planning, security, and enterprise architecture. The Office operates the Electronic Data Gathering Analysis and Retrieval (EDGAR) system, which electronically receives, processes, and disseminates more than 500,000 financial statements every year. The Office also maintains a very active Website that contains a wealth of information about the Commission and the securities industry, and also hosts the EDGAR database for free public access.

  • Develops architectural and engineering design that is scalable, secure and conforms to the overall enterprise architecture standards. Provides technical expertise in one or more of the IT areas architecture and engineering technologies (Linux, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, F5, RSA, SQL, Blackberry, Microsoft, and IOS).
  • Performs a broad range of assignments as a functional expert in architecture and engineering. Participates with decision makers in setting standards, program goals and establish foundational capabilities to fulfill the commission’s mission.  
  • Developing, implementing, and managing enterprise-wide infrastructure platforms, standards, and processes using industry standard concepts and principles.
  • Develops detailed plans and monitors timely execution of programs and projects

SK-14:
  In addition to the experience described above at the SK-13, candidate must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level providing engineering solutions at least three of these platforms technologies: Linux, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, F5, RSA, SQL, Blackberry, Microsoft, IOS; developing, implementing, and managing high volume transactional and analytical platforms, standards, and processes; and performing and leading development of platforms.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Your résumé will be evaluated on the KSAs.

  • Knowledge of and skill with design, management and maintenance of IT Platforms
  • Ability to plan and manage the implemntation of transactional and analytical systems
  • Skill to develop and maintain effective security controls to ensure the integrity of the organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts
