Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position, and of the methods and techniques of instruction.
Some examples of this qualifying experience could be: GL-07:
- Experience assisting in developing curriculum and individualized learning plans for high levels of learning.
- Experience in assisting in providing instruction/leadership to individuals from different backgrounds and maintaining control of activities.
- Experience in teaching professional classes related to Buliding & Trade.
OR Combination of Education and Experience
- Experience in developing curriculum and individualized learning plans for high levels of learning .
- Experience in assisting in developing programs and providing instruction to students from diverse backgrounds in a correctional setting.
- Experience in following standardized curricula and lesson plans to meet the needs of students.
A combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. Applicants applying for this position MUST also possess the following Selective Factor. In the event that you do not possess the Selective Factor, you will be found ineligible for the position. Selective Placement Factor:
- Have one year of experience in at least three of the following residential or commercial building trades: carpentry/framing, masonry, plumbing, electrical, drywall installation/taping/laying, concrete finishing, roofing and landscaping.

- Have a valid, bonded current general contractor's license issued by a state accrediting body AND one year of experience teaching or instructing a building trades program.
All applicants MUST submit a copy of their license as proof of completion. The license must be received in the Consolidated Staffing Unit by the closing date of the vacancy announcement. Applicants must also clearly address the one year of experience in their resume to be found qualified.
Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Your application will be evaluated and rated under DOJ's Category Rating and Selection Procedures. Your resume and supporting documentation will be used to determine whether you meet the job qualifications listed on this announcement. If you are qualified for this job, your resume and supporting documentation will be compared to your responses provided to the online assessment questionnaire. Your application will then be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified. Names of all candidates in the best qualified category will be sent to the hiring official for employment consideration. Candidates within the Best Qualified category who are eligible for veterans preference will receive selection priority over non-veteran preference eligibles.
