JOB SUMMARY:

This is an Air Reserve Technician Enlisted position.

Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service.  In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy Air Reserve Technician positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Force Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

The primary purpose of this Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position is to perform duties in the administration of the education and training programs, provide technical guidance and assistance to managers and supervisors within unit organization on all aspects of the program. Incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:

 

  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to managers and supervisors within unit organization.
  • Identify requirements and provide recommendations for completing Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) degree.
  • Manage the administration of the benefits and entitlements for educational programs.
  • Assist in the development of education and training instructional products.
  • Coordinate multimedia education and  training programs.
  • Perform test examiner duties.

You must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level or  qualifying pay band or other pay systems in the Federal service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Typically we would find this work experience within a military education and training function providing guidance for completing degree requirements; data input; providing guidance on various education and training programs; development of course objectives and assisting with video teletraining. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Position may or will require incumbent to: (1) Fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments. (2) Incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (3) Obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. (4) May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty. (5) The work is typically sedentary.

(4) Skill in the use of automated systems in order to accurately input data and produce reports and extract data as required. (5) Ability to coordinate issues in order to ensure accomplishment of training program objectives.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

Applications will be processed for rating after the close date of this announcement.  Processing time for applications is several weeks from the close date of this announcement.  Applicants will receive a Notice of Results (NOR) via Application Manager approximately 2 days after the announcement closes.  The rating on this NOR will be based strictly on your answers to the questionnaire.  You may receive another NOR via email once your application is rated by a Human Resources Specialist which may reflect a different rating or veterans' preference from the initial notice.  Qualified candidates may be referred to the selecting official for further consideration.
