The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State and fosters transformational development around the world. Our headquarters is centrally located in downtown Washington, DC, at the prestigious Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. We are located next to the Federal Triangle Metro. Our office is in within walking distance of many major attractions.

This appointment is anticipated to last for 10 - 20 weeks, but not-to-exceed 1-year and can be extended without further competition based on the needs of the organization for the work to continue and provided the individual continues to meet the eligibility requirements.

These USAID Pathways Internship positions are part of our centrally funded internship program. We are current seeking Interns with a strong interest in Human Resources to work within several areas of the Office of Human Resources such as but not limited to the Outreach and Marketing Division and our Civil Service Personnel Recruitment and Staffing Division. Specifically, the Interns will assist our Human Resources professionals with a variety of human resources related projects and activities. The successful Interns will have a strong work ethic and excellent customer service or client relationship building skills. 


The Interns will be responsible for a variety of duties. Some, not all, are listed below.

  • Respond to Veterans' inquiries
  • Manage various databases
  • Assist with managing the on-boarding investigation process
  • Assist with the planning of various outreach events
  • Design and create marketing brochures and literate
  • Create PowerPoint presentations
  • Assist with the Internship Program as needed
  • Respond to customers' requests and provide information as needed
  • Prepare and update spreadsheets 
  • Run ad hoc reports
  • Greet new employees and interns and provide on-boarding assistance as needed
  • Prepare and write a variety of correspondence
  • Perform other duties as warranted
