The incumbent serves as the District Asset Forfeiture Coordinator in the Asset Forfeiture Unit of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) District Office in Atlanta, GA. In this role, the incumbent is responsible for managing all asset forfeiture activities within the assigned district, including coordinating all phases of the asset forfeiture process.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Relocation expenses are not authorized
  • Must pass a pre-employment security investigation and drug screening.
  • A one year trial/probationary period may be required.

The incumbent will perform duties such as:

  • Providing advice regarding policies and procedures for managing and disposing of assets seized for forfeiture.
  • Participating in initiatives such as policy formulation and development of training courses related to asset forfeiture.
  • Auditing transactions to ensure program budgets are accurate and balanced.
  • Evaluating program operations to identify best practices and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinating teams on asset seizure, storage and disposal projects.
  • Providing oversight to individuals managing assets (e.g., contractors).

To qualify at the GS-12:

Specialized Experience: One year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level of Federal service performing the following duties related to the position of District Asset Forfeiture Coordinator:

  • Managing recovered property and/or assets including arranging proper storage and disposal of a variety of material goods;
  • Serving as a technical advisor on policies, procedures, and regulations regarding property-related issues;
  • Recommending policy and/or procedure improvements to upper management;
  • Monitoring financial records to ensure expenditures and obligations are accurately recorded and accounted for;
  • Developing project objectives and plans of action and overseeing team operations; and
  • Evaluating operational methods and protocol to develop appropriate actions in complex or unfamiliar situations.

There is no substitution of education at the GS-12 level.
