Membership in the National Guard is Required:  This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Washington National Guard as a condition of employment. Major Duties:

This position is located in the Avionics/Electronics function of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA), or Army Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). Its purpose is to perform repair, maintenance, modification, overhaul and installation of complex electronic systems and/or a portion of a complete electronic integrated system involving work on a number of subsystems but not requiring the integration of all operable subsystems into a functional integrated system. Troubleshoots, inspects, installs, maintains, overhauls, repairs, and modifies complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components. Completes operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of line replaceable units (LRU). Completes bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units. Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates materiel deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary. When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements. Guides lower level mechanics in performance of tasks. Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. Performs other duties as assigned.

General Experience:

Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant’s knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.


Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED

 

Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the MOS to apply or be considered for selection.  Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain MOS within 1 year of appointment action (TPR 303 2-1).

Specialized Experience: 

WG-11 level must have at least 18 months of experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. 

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics). NOTE:  You do not have to respond to the KSA's separately but your resume should contain sufficient information to demonstrate possession of the KSA's.

 

 

  • Ability to apply electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in complex electronic systems or individual subsystems of an electronic integrated system.      

  • Knowledge of the principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices theory, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory.      

  • Ability to interpret and trace schematic, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Ability to perform algebraic and trigonometric formulas to solve work related problems.     

  • Knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management Systems (TAMMS) and other publications and directives as may be applicable to the function.

OTHER INFORMATION:

1.    Technicians are paid through direct deposit/electronic funds transfer.

2.    Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service Systems to be employed by the Federal Government.

3.    Military Technicians are ineligible for enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses.  Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these incentives.

4.    Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a Technician.

5.    Veteran’s preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709 (f).

6.    All new technicians are subject to a one year trial/probationary period IAW 32 USC 709.

 

All soldiers, civilian employees and contractor employees who drive Army-owned or leased vehicles must complete the Army Avoidance Course (AAC) training when they start working for the Army. Must have a valid Washington state and military driver's license. Must be able to obtain a Government Travel Card (GTC) and be able to attend all schools deemed necessary by the supervisor.

An employment physical may be required within 90 days of employment per OSHA regulation and NGB* *this physical will be used to determine fitness and eligibility for continued employment.
