About the Position:
As a Dental Hygienist you will be working at Dental Clinic #1. Dental Clinic #1 is in Bldg. 440, at the east corner of Gulick Avenue and West 6th Street; the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic is located on the second floor in Winn Army Community Hospital; and Dental Clinic #4 is on the corner of Gulick Avenue and Warrior Road, Fort Stewart. The Hunter Army Airfield Dental Clinic/DC #3 is co-located with the Tuttle Army Health Clinic in Bldg. 150 on Haley Avenue.
Winn Army Community (WACH) Hospital provides medical care for active and retired military personnel and their eligible family members in a "catchment area" covering Liberty, Long, Evans, Tattnall, Wayne, McIntosh, Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, Bryan and Chatham counties. Retirees and family members are provided services on a space-available basis.

As a Dental Hygienist working in Dental Clinic #1, you will:
- Perform preliminary dental examinations.
- Perform prophylactic and preventative procedures for patients.
- Expose, develop, process, and mount radiographs.
- Provide oral hygiene instruction.

Specialized Experience: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-05) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience which includes performing prophylactic and preventive procedures in the treatment of patients with related medical and dental problems; reviewing patient medical and dental history for evidences of past and present conditions; performing an examination of a patient's mouth, throat, and pharynx for abnormalities such as cavities, traumatic occlusion, and suspicious lesions to report to the dentist; interpreting routine x-rays to identify tooth structures, calculus and abnormalities such as cavities and deep periodontal pockets.Specialized Experience: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-06) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience which includes performing advanced prophylactic and preventive procedures in the treatment of patients with related medical and dental problems; reviewing patient medical and dental history for evidences of past and present conditions; inspecting the mouth and throat for evidence of disease and teeth and surrounding tissues for evidences of plaque and periodontal disease and chart findings; interpreting routine x-rays to identify tooth structures, calculus and abnormalities such as cavities and deep periodontal pockets.Licensure/Certification: Radiology Certification: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements:Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others. Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence, as determined by OPM or the employing agency.Licensure: Applicants for all grade levels and specializations must be currently licensed to practice as dental hygienists in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia

to provide oral hygiene instruction

- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of employment for certain Civilian positions identified as Critical under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program) requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification Current Advanced Life Support of other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- Position requires employee to wear a uniform and/or protective clothing.
- Must possess a valid state dental hygienist license.
- Must be a graduate of a Dental Hygiene Program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75.
- Selected applicant must provide documents for credentialing.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
