This vacancy is for an Economist position in the Income Branch, National Income and Wealth Division, located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, DC.

BEA's National Income and Wealth Division (NIWD) prepares the estimates of GDP, personal income, and the other components of the National Income and Product Accounts (NIPAs). This position is located in the Business Income Section within the Income Branch of NIWD. Here you will serve as an economist responsible for preparing estimates of corporate profits, dividends, and other measures of business income.

The national economic accounts program provides a quantitative view of U.S. domestic production, consumption, investment, exports and imports, and of national and domestic income and saving.  It features the estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is one of the most closely watched of all economic statistics.  Each month, BEA releases quarterly estimates of GDP and monthly estimates of personal income and outlays.

The individual selected for this position will:

*Major Duty 1:  Work as a member of a team responsible for estimating the corporate profits, dividends, and other business income components of National Income within the National Income and Product Accounts;

*Major Duty 2:  Operate computer systems, including statistical software packages, to generate component estimate of National Income; and

*Major Duty 3:  Serve as the National Income and Wealth Division's conceptual expert on corporate profits and dividends and spokesperson to audiences both within and outside of BEA regarding the National Income data they calculate.
