The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Inspector General (OIG) is currently looking for a Lead Human Resources Specialist in our Headquarters Office located in Washington, DC. As a Lead Human Resources Specialist within the OIG, you will be responsible for leading a team of Human Resources Specialist for the Office of Inspector General (OIG).  In this capacity you will serve as the Technical Support Expert and focal point for delivering a broad range of Human Resources Management services for all OIG employees to include the Senior Executive Service.  The incumbent is responsible for executing all OIG Human Resouces Management programs cross-cutting functional areas of responsibility to include: recruitment and staffing; employee relations; performance management; training and employee development; position management and classification; and compensation and benefits.

To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-13).


Specialized experience is experience that equipped you with competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities, or other characteristics).  To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent in level of difficulty or responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal service or comparable in difficulty or responsibility.  Examples of specialized experience include operating experience in a broad-range of Human Resources Management Programs including employee relations.

1.  Knowledge of a broad range of Human Resources Management Programs and services.

2.  Ability to analyze complex issues and developing solutions to problems in the area of Human Resources Management.

3.  Ability to research, interpret and understand technical material and case law.

4.  Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in the area of Human Resources Management.
