This position is located in the, Office of the Commissioner, Office of External Affairs, Office of Communications. The position involves working with a team of communications professionals to create a variety of visually compelling materials to inform the public, stake holder groups and FDA employees about important health topics.
The job requires the ability to use the latest computer hardware and industry standard software tools to create materials that grab viewers attention and explain complex topics in a way that can be understood by the lay public. Must be able to perform work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
- Design and layout Consumer Updates, fact sheets, reports, brochures and other web and print-oriented documents, using Adobe InDesign, a web content management system and other software.
- Design information graphics for print and online purposes, including web graphics for pages in "For Consumers" section of the FDA website.
- Take and edit photographs of people and materials on location or within a studio setting to be featured in various materials, including Consumer Updates and FDA Voice blogs.
- Maintain and update HTML web pages and PDF versions of information contained within the "For Consumers" section of the FDA website and blog.
