The incumbent serves as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) responsible for performing and guiding systems owners and designated IT security personnel in fulfilling Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements.

·         Plan develop, and conduct security testing, including vulnerability and compliance scans.

·         Categorize IT systems, define system boundaries, and establish and maintain information security standards and procedures.

·         Perform updates and maintain baselines for System Security Plans and other Security Assessment and Authorization artifacts.

·         Lead, report, monitor, and investigate security and privacy incidents.

·         Perform site security assessments and contractor system oversight.

·         Validate the security of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Basic Requirements: 

Applicants must have completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management (submit with your application);


Successfully obtained a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks (submit with your application);


You must have Information Technology(IT)-related experience which demonstrates proficiency in each of the following competencies:

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.


Specialized Experience:  You must have one year of experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service that demonstrates all of the following:

·         Knowledge of Federal IT security laws, regulations, policies, and requirements.

·         Experience performing network security vulnerability assessments.

·         Apply System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.

·         Plan, develop, and conduct IT security testing.
