This position is located in the Civil Engineer. Serves as the environmental engineer for an Air National Guard installation and is available to perform environmental advisory services for all units within the state. This position is located in the Environmental Management Office as the environmental program manager for ANG units with flying missions. Civil Engineering Red Horse Units, Combat Readiness Training Centers, and Geographically Separated Units with statewide geographically responsibilities.

(2) Accomplishes long range environmental planning, budgeting, and programming activities that impacts most state installations or a region that would affect other states.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To be qualifying, experience must have been progressively responsible with increasingly difficult and complex duties. Experience must have been at the next lower or second lower grade or its non-federal equivalent.

   A. Degree: Professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science of physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particles and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science and physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

   B. Combination of education and experience - college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering science and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at least 1 year of experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) or Ph.d. or equivalent doctoral degree.

 

KSA'S: (Insert) 

1. Knowledge of professional environmental engineering concepts, principles and practices.

2. Knowledge of Environmental Protection Programs that involve federal/state compliance procedures and standards associated with pollution prevention, hazardous waste management/minimization, recycling and environmental impact.

3. Knowledge and skill sufficient to adapt standard practices, equipment, or techniques in preparing specifications and designs (or monitoring those prepared by others) for the improvement or alteration of existing or the eventual construction of new facilities.

4. Knowledge of contract administration to negotiate and provide technical oversight, monitor vendor performance, and ensure compliance with terms of contract.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:  Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

 

MILITARY GRADES:  Maximum Military Grade 04; Minimum Military Grade 01; (COMMISSIONING OPPORTUNITY-SEE NOTE);  Applicants who do not meet the military grade requirements will be considered ineligible for this position. Military grade inversion within the full time work force is not permitted.  The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of the personnel supervised.

 

For the 43EXX AFSC, this is a direct commission in to the Biomedical Services Corps. Applicants must  not have reached the age of 47 prior to being commissioned and must attend Commissioned Officer Training (COT) within 12 months of receiving their commission and must also attend the Bioenvironmental Engineering Course.

 

Degree requirements: Possess a baccalaureate degree or higher in engineering from an institution with that curricular program area accredited at the engineering level by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or Possess a baccalaureate in engineering, biology, chemistry, or physics from the United States Air Force Academy or, possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in biology, chemistry, physics, health physics, industrial hygiene, or other degree approved by the 43E associate chief granted from an ABET or non-ABET accredited program, and satisfy one of the following options prior to being accessed into the Biomedical Sciences Corps: Prior qualification in an possession of AFSC 4B071 Bioenvironmental Engineering (BEE) Craftsman and have a minimum of 7 years active duty in the BEE career field or Hold a certification from the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) or hold a certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), or pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, or Possess a Master of Science (MS) degree in medical physical granted from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Program (CAMPEP), or Possess MS degree in medical physics granted from a non-CAMPEP accredited institution, and hold a certification from the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in one of the following three specialties: diagnostic radiologic physics, therapeutic radiological physics, or medical nuclear physics.

 

For the 32EXX AFSC, Start date of appointment would be contingent upon graduation from AMS. Must be able to complete the Academy of Military Science before your 35th Birthday (possibility of an age waiver, up to age 40). Must be a college graduate with a minimum of a bachelor's  degree from an accredited school. Required documentation: AFOQT scores, must meet minimum verbal score of 15 and minimum quantitative score of 10. Current scores desired but must test prior to being offered the position. Must submit copies of college transcript awarding degree.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

Once the online questionnaire is received you will receive an acknowledgement email that your submission was successful. After a review of your complete application is made, you will be notified of your rating and or referral to the hiring official.  If further evaluation or interviews are required you will be contacted.

 

Qualified candidates are referred to the selecting official in the following order:

  1. Fully qualified Area 1 applicants. (current NE National Guard technicians)
  2. Fully qualified Area 2 applicants.
  3. Fully qualified Area 3 applicants.

 

You will be kept informed of actions taken on your application.  The selecting official will contact you for an interview if your name is referred.
