NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
AREA I: All Excepted Technicians of the 177th Fighter Wing (FW)
AREA II: All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard
AREA III: All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership
If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG
If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Technician position in the New Jersey Air National Guard
MINIMUM RANK: A1C/ E-3 MAXIMUM RANK:SSgt/E-5
APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK:
Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered. Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank. If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion. Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only. Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position: A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.
DUTIES: Maintains and repairs assigned missiles. Operates, repairs, maintains and calibrates missile test equipment.
Receives, assembles. issues, identifies, inspects and stores conventional aerospace munitions such as bombs, ammunition, starter cartridges, flares, egress munitions, etc. Operates Combat Ammunition System (CAS) in accordance with applicable regulations and manuals. Determines the status of munitions which have been restricted or suspended from use. Inspects, maintains, repairs, and reconditions conventional munitions, containers, and munitions maintenance handling equipments (MMHE). Links and repositions ammunitions by operating electrical or manual machines and inspecting for defects such as short or long rounds, corrosion and dented cases, and remove unserviceable rounds.
