Position Location: 165th Maintenance Operations Flight, 165 Airlift Wing, Savannah IAP, GA.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS): PCS is not authorized.

Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP): Acceptance of a Federal Excepted technician position of over 179 days in length will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP).

Type of Appointment: This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent dual-status, position which requires Georgia Air National Guard membership.

Job Summary: This position is located in the Job Control Section of the Maintenance Control Branch. The purpose of this position is to provide planning, scheduling and control of aircraft maintenance through a variety of support maintenance shops.

Background Check: Selectee may, at the option of the agency, be required to submit to criminal, credit history, and general background checks which will be evaluated by the agency prior to a final offer of employment and access into the Georgia National Guard Federal Technician or Active Guard/Reserve program. 

National Guard Membership: This position requires military membership. It is designated for Georgia Air National Guard Enlisted incumbent only. In accordance with ANG regulations, incumbent performs duties necessary to accomplish Production Controller (Aircraft) functions in support of programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training and readiness missions.

As  a member of a unit of the Georgia Air National Guard, you will be required to train with your unit, normally one weekend a month and 15 days of annual training each year. Georgia Air National Guard units and members are subject to immediate call to federal or state active duty to meet national or state emergencies.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a current U.S. Citizen.
  • Under 5 USC 2108 & 5 CFR 211, Veteran's Preference criteria does not apply.
  • Direct Deposit Banking is Mandatory.
  • Military Requirement: Enlisted AFSC: 2A5XX.
  • Min Grade: SSgt, Max Grade: MSgt.

The following list is not comprehensive but provides a snapshot of some of the duties that may be required of this position:

  • Implements preliminary (advance) maintenance plans for assigned weapon systems and schedules immediate maintenance for maintenance aircraft.
  • Maintains visual aids depicting status of maintenance actions in progress, specialist availability and status of aerospace vehicles, ground equipment (AGE), training equipment, transportation and tow vehicles, munitions loads, arming of guns and munitions, and location of aircraft and dispatched AGE.
  • Coordinates with Material Control on mission capable (MICAP) and non-mission capable status (NMCS) of parts, adjustments to in-shop work priorities, and verification of urgency of need designators.
  • Coordinates with Quality Assurance on functional check flight (FCF) requirements, Air Operations on flying schedule, other maintenance shops for coordination of repair work and with other functional areas as required.
  • Requests necessary support services such as fire fighting activity standby, fuel and defuel and civil engineer support.
  • Controls the maintenance communications and transportation systems to provide for the effective transmission of information and movement of material and maintenance personnel.
  • Develops and maintains current procedural check sheets for use during actions such as mass loads, combat turnaround, broken arrow (nuclear emergency), emergency war orders (EWO) notification.
  • Makes required inputs to the automated data system and retrieves data and/or computer generated products as required.
  • Conducts training of assigned military personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General Experience: Applicant must have experience which indicates the candidate can reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understanding the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity.

Specialized Experience:  Applicant must have at least 24 months specialized experience scheduling workflow in more than one area and responsible for coordinating products or materials from support activities. Experience in performing or supervising journeymen level work in a production facility. Prepares job or work orders; scheduling various phases of projects into the production facility; following up to see if work is progressing as planned and arranging for adjustments in materials, machine processes, and work sequencing allowing for changes. Experience with current automation support programs to input data, provide status of equipment and monitor job order status, monitor work priorities, requisition repair parts, track repair parts status, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):  Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the Selecting Official based on the following KSAs considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. 

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise initiative in taking timely action to schedule and obtain required materials.
  • Knowledge of the organization and work procedures of the production activity.
  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative in taking prompt and decisive action to prevent or alleviate delays due to   conflicts in scheduling, lack of materials, or faulty work processes.
  • Knowledge of TCTO’s and OTI’s management, and effective tracking system.
  • Knowledge of an effective inspection and time change management program.


Other Requirements: For positions requiring  the operation of motor vehicles, selectee must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

For positions requring a security clearance (Secret or Top  Secret), selectee must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

National Guard Compatibility:  Once an applicant is selected and prior to being placed in the technician position, the selectee must be assigned to the 165th Maintenance Operations Flight in the Georgia Air National Guard as an Enlisted member in AFSC: 2A5XX.

Rank inversion is strictly prohibited.

Wear of the Air Force uniform as prescribed by AFR/NGB/GA NGR is required for incumbent of this position.  Acceptance of this position constitutes concurrence with this requirement as a condition of employment.
