The Labor Relations Officer is a single position allocation responsible for representing NSF during all phases of the collective bargaining process by preparing for and participating in negotiations, impasse resolution and contract administration activities.  As the Chief Negotiator for NSF, the LRO applies sophisticated management principles and skills, with planning and management experience focused strategically.  Provides advice and consultation to managers and supervisors, and develops and maintains a business partner relationship with senior and executive management and with labor unions’ leadership. As the NSF Labor Relations Officer you will:

Negotiate Agreements

  • Effectively work with labor organizations and others to understand interests and actively strive to achieve agreements or resolve differences.

Communicate Effectively

  • Convey clear, timely, written and verbal, persuasive messages that positively influence the thoughts and actions of others.

Consult

  • Employ expertise, credibility, and effective partnering to help NSF identify, evaluate and resolve complex or sensitive issues, problems and agency needs.

  • Effectively build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation and mutual respect.

  • Nurture a performance-based culture that supports efforts to accomplish NSF’s mission and goals.
