Starting Salary: $64,729 PA

Salary Range: $64,729 - $84,146 PA

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

AREA I:  All Excepted Technicians of the the 108th Wing (WG)

AREA II:  All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)

AREA III:  All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership

If a

New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the New Jersey Air National Guard

               MINIMUM RANK:          AMN/E-3                MAXIMUM RANK: TSgt/E-6

APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK:

Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered.   Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank.   If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion.   Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only.   Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:  Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

AFSC: 3D1X2

NOTE:  THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED HAS ONE YEAR TO OBTAIN ADVERTISED AFSC/MOS

LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION:  MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS:To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 70 in the Electrical.  ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position.  The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office

Duties

The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position:  A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.

MAJOR DUTIES:  Manages the assigned IT/communications environment with privileged access at the net work level.  Serves as a focal point for ensuring functionality and operability of the assigned IT/communications system environment.  Provides customer technical assistance and support for all users.  Determines customer requirements and assists customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services.  Conducts feasibility studies to identify and analyze system failures and analyzes data to determine if trends exist which forecast the need for future replacement of modification of system hardware and software.  Coordinates frequency needs with command level spectrum management office to maintain current allocations and obtain new authorizations.  Installs, maintains, and repairs hardware devices supporting a broad range of information and communications systems.
