This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Foods and Veterinary Medicine (OFVM), Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Office of Management (OM), located in Rockville, Maryland.

Duties

• Serves as the Safety Manager providing Center-level environmental and occupational health and safety oversight for the Center.
• Independently evaluates and recommends action for correcting potential hazards (biological, chemical, and physical) and minimizing risks associated with biomedical research, applied research, regulatory review and related support activities.
• Plans, schedules, and conducts surveys of laboratories and offices for the purpose of identifying potential risks.
• Conducts investigations of accidents and injuries and develops recommendations for prevention of their reoccurrence.
• Develops and presents instruction to employee groups on specific safety and health concerns related to their activities.
• Maintains emergency evacuation plans and a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) for buildings.
