BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT- You must first meet Basic

Basic Education Requirement: MUST
possess a successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an
accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree in an
academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to
the work of the position. The number of
semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified
by the college or university attended, or 24 semester hours if this number

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS- In addition to meeting the basic
education requirement, you must have specialized experience or directly related
education as described below.
Specialized Experience: MUST possess one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities
to perform successfully the duties of Research Health Science Specialist
position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to
at least GS-9 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include: working experience in a health services
research and development center conducting, coordinating and supporting
research activities; performing data collection, management, reporting and
other research operations; performing various tasks related to the development,
execution and management of clinical and health services research studies
including coordinating completion of departmental annual reports; coordinating
and monitoring research subject recruitment, data entry and data processing
activities. NOTE: A full year of work
is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be
credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number
of hours a week spent in such employment.

You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
1. Knowledge about research investigatory processes, study-related
interviewing, compilation and analysis of data and development and reporting of
recommendation and findings.
2. Ability to manage, develop and conduct all or part of a research project
including staff selection, assignment, scheduling and monitoring progress
toward defined goals.
3. Experience with data analysis and ability to communicate with other
research project personnel regarding data analysis issues.
4. Experience in the preparation and submission of research findings.
Physical Demands: Applicants may be required

Applicants will be ranked based on four quality groups, as follows:
- Best qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;
- Highly qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
- Well qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job; and
- Qualified - applicants possessing experience and/or education that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors.
