Office of Inspector General (OIG) is dedicated to helping the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) ensure that veterans and their families receive the care, support, and recognition earned through service to their country. The OIG strives to help VA achieve its vision of becoming the best managed service delivery organization in Government. The OIG continues to be responsive to the needs of customers by working with the VA management team to identify and address important issues.

OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, the OIG has offices located in 30 cities throughout the country.

The IT Specialist (SharePoint Administrator), located in the Office of Healthcare Inspection, is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of web applications and the publishing of web content using SharePoint Foundation to support OHI business processes.

The IT Specialist (SharePoint Administrator) performs the following duties:

• Provides advanced knowledge and mastery in applying a full range of complex IT principles, concepts, methods, and practices to accomplish assignments;
• Provides mastery of and ability to design and lead software development projects through one or more phases of the System Development Life Cycle;
• Participates in developing, analyzing, and refining functional and technical specifications and systems requirements. 
• Writes and maintains program documentation, user training documents, and assists in writing and maintaining information systems contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.
• Maintains proficiency in SharePoint Administration (Site creation, document libraries, list, etc.);
• Coordinates hands-on SharePoint Development by creating custom web parts, integrating content, including indexing, creating custom workflows, and access controls;
• Provides consultation and guidance in applying collaborative technologies to solve business problems.

Specialized Experience:   One year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:  

• Designing, developing, and deploying  custom web parts and workflows for an organization; AND
• Evaluating, reviewing and making recommendations for technical specifications and system requirements; AND
• Leading project teams.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
