The Kansas City VAMC has a vacancy for a full time Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), working with an inpatient population of surgical patients. When at full performance level, a CNL is a masters prepared generalist nurse, an expert nurse delivering care at the bedside, an evidence-based practice resource, an educator and mentor of his/ her fellow staff nurses, a coordinator and facilitator of complex care, an intra- and interdisciplinary collaborator, and a steward and guardian for nursing practice. He/she assumes accountability for healthcare outcomes for a specific group of clients within an area of practice through the assimilation and application of research based information to design, implement, and evaluate client plans of care. The CNL is a provider and a manager of care at the point of care to individuals and cohorts. The CNL designs, implements, and evaluates client care by coordinating, delegating and supervising the care provided by the health care team, including licensed nurses, technicians, and other health professionals. This is a full time position; may be eight or twelve hour shifts. While the primary schedule will be days, there will be times when working evening/night/weekends will be expected. This position reports to the Nurse Manager, 3 West.

NOTE: Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and step of the applicant selected.
