Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. (SF-50 Required)
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants first must meet the requirements of the Recent Graduate Program: Have completed, within the two (2) previous years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.

To qualify at the GS-5 level, incumbent must:
Have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal service. Qualifying specialized experience is technician experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Have successfully completed four (4) years of study above high school. (Transcripts Required)
Have a combination of both experience and education. (Transcripts Required)
To qualify at the GS-6 level, incumbent must:
Have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service. Specialized experience may include, but may not be limited to: Basic and general knowledge of screening patients for eligibility for enrollment in a clinical trial; interviewing patients for interest and participation in the trial, solicits signed informed consent and conducts interviews with patients enrolled; maintaining files on reasons patients are ineligible for the study, patient consent forms, census of current patients and enrollment rates in a secure and confidential environment;performing data collection, entry, and verification; maintains accurate files,databases, and documentation related to the research project; assisting the principal investigator and program manager in assembling all necessary reports required for the research project; providing timely and courteous service to external and internal customers of the VA Medical Center; and, listening to concerns and provide the customer with information needed or points them in the right direction for assistance.
To qualify at the GS-7 level, incumbent must:
Have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the federal service. Specialized experience may include, but may not be limited to: Skilled knowledge and abilities in screening patients for eligibility for enrollment in a clinical trial; interviewing patients interest and participation in the trial, solicits signed informed consent and provides self-administered survey to patients enrolled; maintaining files on reasons patients are ineligible for the study; performing data collection,entry, and verification; maintains accurate files, databases, and documentation related to the research project; updating research team on any discrepancies found in data collected; and, responsible for assisting the principal investigator in assembling all necessary reports required for the research project.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 and GS-07 level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as some light equipment, Xerox paper and books. At times during the year, they may be occasions of more physically strenuous duties which may include assistance in the moving and relocation of equipment, furniture or other basic office equipment and devices.

For the GS-05:
KSA 1 Basic knowledge in research
KSA 2 - General knowledge of health systems and computers.
KSA 3 - General knowledge of information management and organization, and
demonstrate the ability to maintain accurate databases, perform data entry and
verification with minimal error rate.
KSA 4 - Familiarity with computerized
databases, word processing, and email systems

effectively with all members of the project team, faculty, other research
staff, patients, and patient families.
KSA 7- General Knowledge of Federal and
VA requirements regarding the protection of Human Subjects.
KSA 8- Familiarity with clinical
For the GS-07:
KSA 1- Must be skilled in information management and organization, and demonstrate the ability to maintain accurate databases, perform data entry and verification a minimal error rate.
KSA 2- Ability to prioritize work flow, functions independently, and meets deadlines for routine and specifically requested reports and information.
KSA 3- Ability to balance several tasks, responsibilities and deadlines at once.
KSA 4- Knowledge of Federal and VA requirements regarding the protection of Human Subjects. Passing Human

- Requirements for continuation and successful completion of the Program;
- Minimum eligibility requirements for noncompetitive conversion to term or permanent appointment in the competitive service under the specific Pathways Program in which employed; and
- Any other requirements or expectations established by the agency.
