LOCATION:  This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Southwest Import District Office, in San Diego, CA.

TYPE OF POSITION:  This position is being filled on a full-time, permanent basis.

PROMOTION POTENTIAL:  GS-13 is the full performance level.  

Salary range listed includes locality pay.

Duties

This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Southwest Import District Office, Investigations Branch.  The incumbent is the first line supervisor in an ORA District Imports Office of an assigned unit of Consumer Safety Officers.  The supervisor is recognized as the authority over the program, functions, and activities of the unit. The supervisor is involved with regulatory issues which are difficult and sensitive.  Responsibilities also include technical and administrative issues which include planning, assigning, reviewing and evaluating the work and performance of those employees.

If selected for this position, you will:
-  Perform the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised
-  Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system
-  Develop and implement team-building techniques
-  Provide input on subordinate staff to the next level management for consideration in strategic planning and budgets taking into account recommendations from team input
