Selective Placement Factor: Applicants applying for this position MUST possess the following Selective Factor. In the event you do not possess the Selective Factor, you will be found ineligible for the position.
- Applicants must have acquired the knowledge to administer medication. This may have been gained through a medical administration certification program, certified nursing assistant or medical assistant program which included instruction on medication administration, certified pharmacy technician program, vocational nursing program, paramedic training program or any other certified program that specifically addresses the issuance and/or control of medication. Evidence of program completion required.
NOTE:Evidence of completion of a program such as a medical administration certification program, certified nursing assistant, certified nursing aide, or medical assistant program, MUST include information which verifies the program included instruction on medication administration (i.e. transcripts that include coursework in Pharmacology or Medication Administration, etc.). NOTE: ALL applicants MUST submit evidence of program completion. Evidence of completion includes a diploma, certificate of graduation or certificate of completion, a transcript with a final passing grade (above “C” or whatever is the equivalent on the scale used by the school), or any statement that indicates successful completion of a program outlined in this selective factor. This documentation MUST be received in the Consolidated Staffing Unit by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
- Applicants must have completed a program which is directly related to the position such as: completion of an on the job training program, completion of a training. Orientation program by a medical/pharmaceutical employer. Evidence of program completion required.
NOTE: Evidence of program completion includes a letter on employer letterhead documenting completion of the program, documentation of completion of an on the job training program, an employment training record, or other appropriate documentation. Self certification of program completion will not be accepted.
In addition to the Selective Placement Factor, applicants must have:
Education One year of graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GL-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position.

Experience You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specialized experience is directly related experience that includes support duties to medical or health personnel. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
- Experience in maintaining accurate inventories of all needles, syringes and controlled substances.
- Experience in preparing medications for Pharmacist review and placing automated medication orders.
- Experience in reporting and recording adverse medication reactions.
- Experience in administering medications (i.e. sublingual, buccal, eye, ear, nasal, topical, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intravenous).
Credit will given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Your application will be evaluated and rated under DOJ's Category Rating and Selection Procedures. Your resume and supporting documentation will be used to determine whether you meet the job qualifications listed on this announcement. If you are qualified for this job, your resume and supporting documentation will be compared to your responses provided to the online assessment questionnaire. Your application will then be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified. Names of all candidates in the best qualified category will be sent to the hiring official for employment consideration. Candidates within the Best Qualified category who are eligible for veterans preference will receive selection priority over non-veteran preference eligibles.
