This is a Human Resources Specialist position serving as a member of the Department of Navy's (DON) Civilian Human Resources Community, which is responsible for effectively developing and delivering personnel management policies, systems, guidance and programs to enable the DON to inspire, develop, and compensate its civilian workforce. Individuals will be placed in the Department of Navy's Pathways Recent Graduate Program. This is a structured training program including an orientation, mentorship, individual development plan, formal education and training, and extensive on-the-job training tailored to various career fields within Human Resources.
If selected for this position, you will be appointed to the excepted service on a Recent Graduate appointment for one year. Participants who successfully meet the requirements at the end of their first year may be eligible for noncompetitive conversion to the competitive service to a developmental HR position. This conversion is at the agency's discretion.
Who May Apply: This position is restricted to recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying degree from a qualifying educational institution. Veterans, as defined in 5 U.S.C 2108, unable to apply within two years of receiving their degrees, due to military service obligation, have as much as six years after degree completion to apply. (NOTE: Individuals who graduated between 12/27/2010 and 7/10/2012 will be eligible to apply under the Recent Graduates Program through 7/10/2014.) Unless claiming veterans' preference, appointment is also restricted to recent graduates residing in the local commuting area of Camp Pendleton/Miramar/San Diego, California, as supported by the address provided in your application package.
Positions may be filled at the GS-7 and GS-9 levels.
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Expenses and/or Relocation Expenses are NOT authorized.
