SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify. The actual Selective Placement Factor is a current CPR certification. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
· Assist dental professionals by performing a variety of intra-oral procedures and make preparations and provide chairside assistance used in all phases of restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgery, endodontic and periodontic treatment.
· Operate and adjust dental DDI and x-ray equipment.
· Complete work cycles required to decontaminate, prepare, store and issue the full range of dental instruments, equipment and sterilized supplies used in the DDS dental clinics.
· Recognize common dental disorders and conditions such as inflamed tissue and tooth decay.
· Apply and utilize dental anatomy and bony structure of the face to take diagnostic dental radiographs.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in a dental assistant or dental hygiene program that included at least 24 semester hours in the following courses; radiation physics, radiation biology, radiation health, safety and protections; X-ray films and radiographic film quality, radiographic techniques, darkroom and processing techniques; and film mounting; or practical nurse training approved by the appropriate State, territory or District of Columbia accrediting body.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
