This position is located at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, MD as part of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program. The goal of this program is to provide immediate response and appropriate support for all victims of sexual assault in the United States Naval Academy community. The program is designed to eliminate incidents of sexual assault through a comprehensive policy that centers on leadership dignity and respect, bystander intervention, awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting, and accountability.  

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
  • Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • This position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP).

  • Responsible for the execution of the response plan under the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) for the United States Naval Academy's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO).
  • Provide direct victim support and case management, as well as continuously advising the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator regarding best practices in sexual assault victim response by using subject matter expertise.
  • Manage the United States Naval Academy's collateral-duty victim advocacy program, which includes activity management of the volunteer force that includes active duty members and civilians.

BASIC REQUIREMENT

You must meet the Basic Requirement for the position by meeting the criteria below:

Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. 

OR 

Have combination of education with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the fields.

 

IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENT your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-0101-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: making initial contact with sexual assault victims; coordinating response service; performing sexual assault case management and maintaining ongoing contact with victims; collaborating response services with agencies and departments involved with sexual assault victims; referring cases to appropriate services such as medical services or psychotherapy; providing sexual assault and harassment education and training.

OR 

Have two (2) years of higher level graduate education leading to a Master's Degree or Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in Behavioral or Social Science; or related discipline.                                                                                                   OR                                                                                                                                                                                                    Have a combination of specialized experience described in A and graduate education described in B, where the total percentage equals 100%.

REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
  • A security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.  If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.
  • This is a Drug Testing. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment.   • Must carry a US Naval Academy duty phone 24/7 on a standby basis and to manage victim response via phone or in person on a rotational schedule with other Victim Advocates and/or Sexual Assault Response Coordinators
