The Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164.  Duties include word processing, and may also include other software, such as spreadsheets, electronic mail, calendar, databases, graphics, desktop publishing and similar packages. The work requires knowledge of general office automation software and is performed on a microcomputer or mainframe network. A qualified (40 wpm) typist is required. You must self certify your typing speed on your resume; applicants not addressing typing speed will not be considered.

This is an Excepted Service Position. 

The first position to be hired will be a Full-time, year round, 40 hours per week position; future position schedules may differ.

No moving/transportation expenses are authorized.

Uses the full range of functions, including advanced processes, of one or more word processing software and/or desktop publishing applications to produce a variety of documents. May also use various functions of other software types such as calendars, electronic mail, spreadsheets, or graphics. Plans and carries out assignments with considerable independence. Performs systems maintenance functions for electronic mail systems, following established procedures. Provides clerical support to ensure efficient assessor office operations. Performs a variety of receptionist and other clerical and administrative functions, using judgment to answer recurring questions, resolve problems, and control and restrict personal information to those who need to know. Performs a broad range of duties using one or more database software programs to include the special education software programs. Plans and carries out assignments with considerable independence. Performs a broad range of duties using one or more spreadsheet software programs. Plans and carries out assignments with considerable independence.

Applicants must possess: one year general experience; or two years post-high school level education; or a combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

General Experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Post-high school level education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

If you are substituting education for experience, please provide a photocopy of your OFFICIAL college/university transcripts. Transcripts must be in English.  Any transcripts submitted that are not in English or not official will not be considered.

Must meet OPM minimum qualification standards to be considered for this position.
