JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position: Thisjob provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi ArmyDepot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernizehelicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign militarycustomers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center ofIndustrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance and isthe world's largest helicopters overhaul and repair facility. CCAD serves asthe depot training base for active duty Army, National Guard, Reserve andforeign military personnel. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenanceservices, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical,metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing supportto the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an officesetting.

As a result of sequestration and budget shortfalls, Army is furloughing most of its employees for some amount of time during fiscal year 2013. An employee in this position MAY be subject to furlough. SCREEN OUT ELEMENT: Your resume must indicate your ability to do the work of a Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer without more than normal supervision.  Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training  in pretesting, disassembling and serviceability and the extent of disassembly necessary to repair or modify units. Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training which provides (1) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc (2) Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) (3) Use of measuring instruments(4) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc (includes blueprint reading) (5) Ability to use and maintain tools & equipment (6) Troubleshooting.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work frequently requires handling objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Is required to lift, reach, bend, walk, pull, push, sit, and stand for prolonged periods of time.

WORKING CONDITION: Usually performs work inside areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated, and heated. Is frequently exposed to loud noise from the movement of machinery and test equipment; to the possibility of cuts, burns, strains, electrical shock, and abrasions from handling equipment or from moving parts of machinery; and to unpleasant conditions from dirt, solvents, fuel, toxic fumes, grease, and gases. Floor surfaces may be wet, oily, or slippery. Various protective devices such as earplugs, face shields, gloves, safety glass are used. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of the position.
