This position can be filled at the GS-05 grade level, GS-06 grade level, or it can be filled as a developmental position and may have promotion potential to the GS-06 grade level.

In this position, you will perform the material management and support services functions for a DoDDS school/office in order to provide adequate and timely logistics support to students, staff, and faculty. Prepares, edits, and submits orders to the Area Director’s office for purchasing supplies and equipment within specified budget/time constraints based on approved requests from facility and support staff. Performs a combination of tasks concerned with the receipt, storage, issue and replenishment of supplies and equipment, forms, publications, texts and other books, and items requiring special handling (e.g., live specimens, hazardous materials such as gasoline, volatile chemicals, and gases), as well as technical items such as computer equipment, facsimile machines, and audiovisual equipment. Records supply transactions in the appropriate automated system. Maintains formal records of durable property and textbooks, including complete histories of transactions. Assists in preparation of unserviceable and/or unneeded items for transfer to the Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO). Performs a variety of light maintenance and repair work for the school (e.g., changing light bulbs, adding toner to copy machines, moving furniture, making simple or minor repairs to nonelectrical equipment). As a designated Government Ordering Official, backs up the senior School Support Assistant in the purchase of supplies and services for the school through the use of the Government Purchase Card (GPC). Receives all purchases made through GPC program. Verifies quantity, description, condition, and price to actual order. Reconciles monthly GPC statement. Prepares Cardholder Statement of Questioned Items (CSQI) in cases of billing discrepancies. May arrange unofficial travel through use of GPC, assuring competition on all travel transactions above $2,500 unless arranged through the local Scheduled Airlines Travel Office (SATO)/Carlson Travel.

In this position, you will serve as a property custodian maintaining a perpetual inventory of non-expendable property and supply records for durable items in the school. Assures school support requirements are prepared, edited, and submitted to the Area Directors Office for the purchase of supplies and equipment. Identifies equipment requiring repair or maintenance. Assures all supply transactions are recorded in an automated system and that copies of the documents are filed appropriately to maintain an adequate automated and hard copy audit trail. Sets or revises stock levels for authorized items available through the supply system for school stockage. Uses and maintains a library of DoDEA, GSA, and other appropriate federal and commercial catalogs to identify supply items requested by the facility and school staff. Inventories textbooks and workbooks at the beginning and end of each school year, and maintains inventory records, including complete histories of transactions. Compiles financial data to forecast the budget for replenishment of supplies and equipment, and equipment repair and maintenance and forwards to supervisor for incorporation into the school budget. Monitors base-level support provided under the interservice support agreement including service contracts for school equipment maintenance and repair, custodial support, utilities, laundry and dry cleaning, mail pickup and delivery, etc., to ensure the supporting installation is in compliance with the agreement. Assists in monitoring the school safety and security programs to ensure compliance with program requirements of DoDEA and the supporting military installation. Where needed, performs a variety of light maintenance and repair work for the school (e.g., changing light bulbs, adding toner to copy machines, moving furniture, making simple or minor repairs to nonelectrical equipment, etc. As designated Government Ordering Official, uses the Government Purchase Card (GPC) to purchase supplies and services for the school. Receives requests for GPC purchases from teachers, administrators, and other school staff. Determines if requests are appropriate and meet GPC program conditions. Makes approved purchases by phone, catalog, internet or over the counter. May arrange unofficial travel through use of GPC, assuring competition on all travel transactions above $2,500 unless arranged through the local Scheduled Airlines Travel Office (SATO)/Carlson Travel.

GS-05 position:
In order to qualify for this position, you need one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level. Examples of specialized experience include: ordering supplies for a business, office and/or organization; conducting inventory counts of supplies on hand; and/or creating reports using data from databases and supply records.

OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION of four years above high school. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.

GS-06 position:
In order to qualify for this position, you need one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level. Examples of specialized experience include: use of standard supply and logistical support; supplies for a business, office and/or organization; conducting inventory counts of supplies on hand; creating reports using data from databases and supply records; and the specialized experience should show that you independently planned and carried out successive steps according to specific requirements.

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-06 grade level.

All candidates must be U.S. Citizens and reside within the local commuting area where the position is located.  Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.

Work schedules may be part-time, full-time or school year seasonal. Some positions are part-time with seasonal work schedules. School year seasonal work schedules include periods in a non-pay/non-duty status during the holiday, spring and summer recess periods.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements.

The work is partly sedentary, but regularly includes walking, bending, standing, carrying or lifting items up to 70 pounds, elevating boxes weighing 30-50 pounds above shoulder height, and unloading/loading vehicles.

You will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer in accordance with DoD Regulation 7000.14R.

Selectee must undergo Background Checks IAW DoDI 1402.5 (e.g. Local Files Check, State Criminal History Records Check, and National Agency Check Inquiries).  Employment in these positions is subject to successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication.  Failure to successfully meet/maintain these requirements may be grounds for termination.
