ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION:

POSITION DETAILS:  One (1) Permanent full-time Supervisory Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department.

Salary range:

GS-11:  $67,047 - $82,131 Per annum

GS-12:  $78,355 - $96,436 Per annum 

Promotion potential: GS-12

Supervisory/Managerial Position: Yes, you may be required to serve a one year probationary period.

  • Serves as the Supervisory Clinical Nurse for the Emergency Department, exercising specific responsibility to assure that nursing care is provided and for accomplishment of work planning, direction and performance evaluation.
  • Assigns work to employees in an efficient, equitable and selective manner to achieve satisfactory quality of patient care.
  • Manages the Emergency room by providing adequate staffing, unit organizational functions and branch communication.
  • Ensure policies and procedures, national nursing standards, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, federal guidelines and appropriate protocols are followed.
  • Maintains competency in current nursing skills, knowledge practices, and procedures; leadership and management knowledge and abilities.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:  All Nursing applicants must meet all of the BASIC REQUIREMENTS listed below: 

Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

 

Registration:  Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:  All applicants must meet the following  experience requirement in order to be considered at the GS-11 level and above:

 

GS-11:  Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education -OR- 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level providing profesional nursing services in a health care setting.

 

GS-12:  1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level providing and demonstrating leadership, maximizes program efficiency and effectiveness, develops short/long term goals, nursing expertise, knowledge of strategic planning, ability to manage, plan and organize, assign work, knowledge of personnel procedures, preparation of work schedules, maintains unit safety and infection control; sets performance standards and evaluations; initiates and recommends promotions; awards; training and disciplinary action, etc.

 

Evaluation of Education:  Graduate-level education must have been in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing (e.g., teaching, a clinical specialty, research, administration, etc.) or in a closely related non-nursing field directly applicable to the requirements of the position of be filled.

 

Evaluation of Experience:  Experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.  Examples of specialized experience include:  providing supervisory oversight to a nursing department; maintaining a nursing budget; planning operations to meet organizational objectives; ensuring standards of care in delivery of nursing services are met; working with a Management Team in policy and program management.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

First notification : Once the online questionnaire and resume are received, you will receive an acknowledgement email that your submission was successfully received. Receipt of this email does not confirm receipt of the other required document(s): copy of your license or completed OF-306 Addendum form.
