Ability to perform the duties of a motor vehicle operator without more than normal supervision. (Screen-out)
Possession of a valid Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License with a Class B Passenger endorsement and a DMV printout for the past 5 (five) year, showing no traffic violation, dui and/or infractions. Skilled in operating vehicles and safe driving.
Ability to load, transport, and unload cargo and passengers/patients.
Knowledge of transportation rules, requirements and Federal, State and local driving regulations.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Physical effort and work conditions: The Motor Vehicle Operator must be in good physical condition when performing driving and related services, particularly when driving for extended periods of time, and/or long distance. The employee must be vigilant and alert to cope with adverse traffic conditions and poor weather conditions. Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects in excess of 100 lbs. The employee shall wear appropriate safety apparel and employ recommended lifting techniques to prevent injury and/or damage to self, other people and property. The Motor Vehicle Operator is exposed to extended periods of bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, sitting, and walking.
The Motor Vehicle Operator is required to work out of either VACM San Francisco, or Community Based outpatient Clinics at Santa Rosa, Eureka, or Ukiah. He/she drives in a variety of traffic situations and weather conditions and is exposed to potentially hazardous situations and serious accidents. The employee is in direct contact with patients who may be acutely ill or have psychiatric issues, but who are not sick enough to warrant ambulance transportation. Such patients may be suicidal, irrational or otherwise mentally disturbed and may become verbally or physically abusive. The employee must use good judgment in dealing with such situations.

Applicants will be ranked based on three quality groups, as follows:
- Best Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that substantially exceed the minimum qualifications of the position and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;
- Well Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that exceed the minimum qualification of the position and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
- Qualified - applicants possessing knowledge, skills and abilities that meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group. Qualified veterans will be afforded preference by being placed at the top of the appropriate quality group. Qualifying veterans with a service-connected disability of 10% or more will be placed at the top of the best-qualified group. The best-qualified group is the first to be referred to the hiring facility for further consideration and possible interview.
