GS-08: Starting Salary: $48,439 PA

Salary Range: $48,439 - $62,966 PA

 

GS-09: Starting Salary: $53,500 PA

Salary Range: $53,500 - $69,545 PA

 

GS-10: Starting Salary: $58,916 PA

Salary Range: $58,916 - $76,595 PA

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

 

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

AREA I: All Excepted Technicians of the the 108th Wing (WG)

AREA II: All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)

AREA III: All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership

 

If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the New Jersey Air National Guard.

APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK: Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered. Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank. If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion. Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only. Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

NOTE:THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED HAS ONE YEAR TO OBTAIN ADVERTISED AFSC/MOS

 

LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION: MUST HAVE A SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE. MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A TOP SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS:  To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 55 in the General area.  ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position.  The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.

Duties

The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position:  A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:  Serves as an instructor/evaluator. Provides direct assistance to the aircraft pilot:  Performs crew compartment duties and regularly instructs/evaluates other enlisted air crew members on duties performed during takeoffs, landings, and other critical phases of flight.  Performs Aerial Refueling Technician duties. Performs aerial refueling duties on specialized, classified, and high intensity missions requiring expert knowledge and operational skills.  Accomplishes load master functions.  Prior to flight, accomplishes preflight checks, inspection, acceptance, and operation of all aircraft loading equipment, and systems.  Performs staff duties based on specialized knowledge of the unit’s mission and related programs to ensure safe and successful accomplishment of required training and Air Force mission support requirements.
