Area 1 = Permanent technicians Enlisted and Warrant Officers currently employed at DCSLOG, MATES or FMSs in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard.
 
To prevent a grade inversion, military rank allowed for this position will be determined at the final evaluation of the vacancy announcement considering the military rank of the supervisor.

Relocation costs will not be authorized for Permanent Change of Station.   Recruitment, Relocation or Retention allowance will not be paid.

The purpose of this position is to inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standars and specifications. Uses a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems.  Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, as as required,  performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

 

Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

 

Applicant must possess more than EIGHTEEN (18) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as inspecting standard electronic systems, heavy mobile artillery, small arms, powered support, optical, and other equipment or components; conducting inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction; utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment; diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems; making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment; using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc.; interpreting technical manuals, specifications and publications.


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

 

Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours, or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of specialized experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position. Copy of student transcripts or training certificates must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered. To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Failure to meet or comply with the following requirements will be basis for non-employment or removal from employment, as appropriate.

- Successfully complete a medical screening before placement action and a periodic medical evaluation thereafter.

- Proper protective equipment must be used to comply with safety standards.

- Evidence of identity must be provided to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (PL 99-603).

- Acceptance of the position constitutes concurrence to wear the appropriate military uniform.

- Possess or be able to acquire a Puerto Rico driver's license.

- Continued employment in this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the mandatory training specifically identified for the position.

- Individual selected must enroll in the Department of Defense Direct Deposit / Electronic Fund Transfer Pay Program.

- Loss of military membership will result in immediate loss of your full-time military technician position.

- Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a MOS/AFSC and military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with the assigned technician position.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:

In order to achieve compatibility prior to effective date of personnel action, individual selected must be eligible for military assignment to a paragraph and line number in one of the following: WOBR 25, 29, 91 or 94; ECMF 25, 94, or EMOS 13D/M/P/R, 14E/T/Z, 15E, 29E, 35T or 91A/F/G/H/K/M/P/S/X/Z.

Individual selected for this position that is not qualified in one of the mentioned CMF/MOS, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be MOS Qualified. If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 days notice of separation.
