Note:  The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11.   The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate's education and experience and recommend the grade and step at which the candidate will be placed.  The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

Position Description - Marriage and Family Therapist (Functional Statement)

Please note: This position is a term position not to exceed 2 Years

This position is located in the Chaplain Service

This position is as a Marriage and Family Therapist within the Family Services program that is situated in the Chaplain Service at the Roudebush VA Medical Center,  Indianapolis, IN.  The Marriage and Family Therapist is an advanced practitioner providing direct services to patients and their families.  The incumbent establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, colleagues, and other professionals in collaboration throughout treatment regarding clinical, ethical, and legal issues and concerns.   This includes the ability to represent and educate others regarding the Marriage and Family Therapy perspective in interdisciplinary staff meetings while respecting the roles and responsibilities of other professionals working with the client.   Also will have full program management responsibility for marriage retreats and workshops under the driection of the Chief of Chaplain Services.
