  • The incumbent, a member of Imaging Service, assigned to the East Orange Campus, with the appropriate multi modality Diagnostic Radiologic experience, will serve in the capacity as the Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and will also have overall accountability for the coordination and daily activities of the staff assigned to the Lyons campus.  The team members consist of 3 multi modality DRT staff, 1 Medical Machine Technologist, and 1 Clerical support staff.  The incumbent is responsible for ensuring personnel assignments are carried out in a prompt and effective manner to produce optimal patient care as directed by the Supervisory DRT. 
  • The incumbent is expected to travel to other locations as directed by the Administrative Officer and/or Service Chief.  The incumbent is expected to be available during off tour hours, addressing the immediate needs of the service relative to staffing issues, equipment malfunctions, etc.  He/She will resolve minor issues via the telephone or by reporting to the campus affected or the main Medical Center campus when needed, assessing issues and reporting through the chain of command within the service. 
  • The Lead functions with initiative and independent judgment in the area of responsibility and networks with the Supervisory DRT daily. 

Work Schedule:  Rotating Tours:  Monday thru  Friday/Tuesday thru Saturday (8:00am - 4:30pm); rotating off tours (nights/weekends and on call) may exist with unanticipated staffing shortages.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Citizenship.  Citizen of the United States.
  • Experience or Education.  Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, (transcripts required), accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiology.

  • Certification.  All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R).

Preferred Experience:  Four years of active practice in various modalities, such as CT; IR, Gen. Rad. and/or MRI, which is paid or non-paid employment as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist as defined by ARRT.  To receive credit for these skills, they must be documented in your resume. 

GRADE 10 REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:  Completion of one (1) year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-9) level directly related to the position being filled (Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist), and must fully meet the KSAs at that level.  In addition, the candidate must meet the following technical KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*).

 

  1.  Ability to provide feedback to supervisor on technical aspects of work;

*2.  Ability to resolve informal employee complaints;

*3.  Ability to monitor and report on the status and progress of work, and make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established procedures; and

  4.  Skill to independently perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures in advanced levels of complex treatment situations.
