ILLINOIS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Illinois National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Areas of Consideration: This position is limited to permanent technician on-board only with the IL ARNG in an available military position in a Warrant Officer, Officer grade which is compatible with this technician position.

Military Requirements: Selected Candidates will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

Compatible Military Assignments: Officer: 88A, 90A, 91A, 92A Minimum/Maximum rank: MAJ

                                                 Warrant Officer BR: 25, 91, 92, 94; 882A Minimum/Maximum rank: CW4

Provides direct input or participates in meetings and/or conferences with engineering, production control, and other personnel involving the initial analysis of long-range work requirements.  Reviews immediate and long-range requirements of organizational segments and groups supervised based on workload forecasts, and develops, for approval by their superiors, plans for meeting long-range resource requirements.  Plans the allocation of resources and the distribution of work to subordinate supervisors, and determines the internal plan to be followed by subordinate supervisors in applying those resources to accomplish work operations.  Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors, sets deadlines, and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed.  Maintains balanced workloads by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources to achieve the most effective work operations.   Evaluates work operations and reviews completed work and inspection reports to assure that standards are met.  Coordinate work operations with the supervisors of other organizations and functions.  Develops and establishes internal procedures (e.g., meetings, content, and timing of reports) to be followed by subordinate supervisors to assure effective control and direction of work activities, organizations, and personnel supervised.    Identifies long-range training needs for all levels of subordinate supervisors and workers and submits justification and funding requests to superiors and arranges for the accomplishment of the training.  Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.  Implements and complies with agency, state, and Federal regulatory Occupational Safety and Health, and environmental requirements.  Implements procedures to account for real property, installation property, MT)&E property, and installed equipment located at or assigned to the facility in accordance with state, and Federal regulations and policies.  Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.  May be required to serve as a member of the Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET).

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  WS-14 level:  Must possess 36 months: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, (1) Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. (2) Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.  (3) Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. (4) Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. (5)  Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENT:  For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license.
