DUTIES:

Plans, schedules, organizes and implements outdoor activities. Will be able to show history/skill in some of the following activities; kayaking, SCUBA/snorkeling, outrigger canoeing, surfing, boogie boarding, swimming, body surfing, Paintball/Reball, high ropes, tem building, biking, hiking and overnight recreational trips. Demonstrate techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment. Coordinates with installation, county, and state officials on programs and information related to outdoor recreation and required licenses. Researches, plans and develops or enlarges outdoor recreation areas. Prepares standard operating procedures. May assist in the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and 5- year plan.

 

 


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience OR a combination of experience and education that provided the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups.

 

Experience using recreation software, such as RecTrac, is highly preferred.

 


Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience.

Conditions of employment:

1. A one-year probationary period may be required.

2. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.

3.  Satisfactorily complete an employment verification check. 

4. Successfully complete all required background checks.

Credit may be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.
