This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-7. At the GS-6 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-7. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.

The Program Support Assistant position is located in the North East Consolidated Patient Account Center (NECPAC) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Albany, New York. The employee serves as a Facility Revenue Technician. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
  • Validates and audits potential third party reimbursable insurance claims.
  • Reviews first party receivables ensuring accuracy of co-pays, conversions and other non-automated co-payment activities.
  • Organizes and retrieves computerized data.
  • Evaluates and performs a detailed analysis of data received from various sources.
  • Reviews documents, reports, and applications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Generates reports on a variety of data.
  • Enters information into an automated tracking system.
  • Provides patient education and assistance about services.
  • Provides appropriate answers to customer service inquiries regarding accounts receivable, means and co-payment testing, and health insurance related issues.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with coworkers.
  • Provides helpful and courteous service to insurance carriers and other business entities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday,  8:00 am to 4:30 pm
