JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Interior's (DOI) Interior Business Center (IBC) is a Federal Shared Service Center, providing world-class business management services. We offer a diverse yet integrated set of solutions, and are an authorized Shared Services Center in Financial Management, HR/Payroll, IT and Security. This position is located in the DOI, IBC, Information Technology Directorate (ITD), Desktop and Peripherals Support Branch. The Branch is responsible for the day to day operations of all desktop and peripheral support (to include mobile devices), email management and VIP support for the Main Interior Building and support to the IBC.  This position is a permanent position under the IBC, but will be detailed into the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) upon selection and placement.

Serves as the supervisor and Branch Chief for the Desktop and Peripherals Support Branch responsible for the following: 

  • Desktop and peripheral support for over 3000 users in the DOI Office of the Secretary.
  • Communicates with all Office of the Secretary offices, ensuring technical requirements are clearly understood and included in agreements, pricing and service level agreements.
  • Develops service level agreements for all services offered by the branch.
  • Performs internal audits in partnership with information security; presents detailed and comprehensive reports with any corrective action taken.  Follows up to ensure complete and quality resolution of discrepancies.
  • Establishes metrics and analysis systems to ensure services are delivered in accordance with customer agreements.
  • Develops lifecycle refresh plans with customers for all supported devices-desktops, laptops, all peripheral devices.
  • Performs long and short range planning and resource planning; develops implementation documentation to translate approved IT requirements into funded programs and projects.

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to administering and managing an end user profiles (peripherals support) program which includes printer, Blackberry and email support; routing protocols, backup and recovery and remote access methodologies.

The Interior Business Center has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

 

Employees must meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act in order to telework. Employees are eligible to telework if they have not: been disciplined for being absent without permission for more than five (5) days in any calendar year; been disciplined for violations of the standards of ethical conduct for employees of the executive branch for viewing, downloading, or exchanging pornography, including child pornography, on a federal government computer or while performing an official function; or received a less than Fully Successful performance rating. The Department of the Interior also considers employees with documented conduct issues ineligible for telework.

Selection may require completion of a 1-year supervisory or managerial probationary period.

 

This position requires approximately 1-5 nights of travel per month.

This position will be filled as full-time.

 

Relocation Expenses:
