Screen Out Element: You must be able to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer, WG-5803-08, without more than normal supervision. In order to meet the screen out element, you should document your ability to do the following: Perform major and minor repairs to heavy mobile equipment, replace components, inspect and troubleshoot equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:
·Knowledge in replacing a variety of worn parts.
·Skill in completing work orders.
·Ability to analyze test results.
·Knowledge of performing tune-ups.
Physical effort: Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and couching. Works on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning part assemblies and equipment. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Work is sometimes performed from ladders or work platforms at varying heights.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and occasionally outside. The incumbent must frequently stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. The incumbent is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, oils and vehicle exhaust fumes. Incumbent is exposed to some inclement weather such as wind and rain. Subject to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and strains.

This position offers a $3000 recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed as civilians in the Federal Government. You are considered newly appointed if this is your first appointment as a civilian employee in the Federal Government or if you have a minimum of a 90-day break in service from a previous Federal civilian position. You may qualify with a break in service of less than 90 days only if your previous Federal civilian appointment was a time-limited, or not permanent, appointment. Your recruitment bonus will be made in two payments. You receive the first payment when you enter on duty, and you receive the second payment on your first anniversary.
