This position is located at the Small Business Administration, Los Angeles District Office, Lender Relations Division, which is located in  Glendale, California.   • Lending Institution Outreach - conduct face-to-face lender visits with individual lending institutions for the purpose of delivering SBA loan programs and services in the District and in accordance with the Strategic Lender Marketing Plan as prepared by the Supervisor/Lead.  Visits will include new, active, inactive lenders and other training entities.
  • Lender, Borrower and Partner Technical Training - conduct or participate in training sessions designed to ensure that SBA programs and services are optimized in the various financial organizations served by the District.  All training and events will be conducted in a professional and courteous manner and in accordance with the Strategic Lender Marketing Plan as prepared by the Supervisor or Team Lead.
  • Lender Development - provide assistance through consultative and customer interactions with lenders (one-on-one) including credible or serviceable telephone calls, email, meetings and lender office drop-in visitors regarding SBA loan programs and services

    You must have one year specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. Specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade level for the occupation. You must meet these qualifications by the closing date of this announcement. 

     

    GS-11:  One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level working independently: 

    • In assisting in commercial or business loan proposal development, packaging, and structuring; and
    • In assisting with marketing lending programs and services to external customers through outreach activities; and 
    • In assisting with conducting formal training or professional development; and
    • In assisting with the growth and development of a customer base; and 
    • Using a variety of a software applications and technologies in all aspects of the job.

     GS-12:  One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level working independently: 

    • In commercial or business loan proposal development, packaging, and structuring; and
    • Marketing lending programs and services to external customers through outreach activities; and 
    • Conducting formal training or professional development; and
    • In the growth and development of  a customer base; and 
    • Using a variety of a software applications and technologies in all aspects of the job.

    If you do not meet the specialized experience requirements, you may also qualify with education as follows:

     

    GS-11:  A Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M in an accredited college or university. (Degree or course work should be in areas of business, finance, accounting or a related field.) OR a combination of related education and specialized experience that together equal 100 percent of the required basic qualifications for the GS-11.

     

    GS-12:  Education is not qualifying at this grade level.

    Suitability, Clearance & Requirements:  A background security investigation may be required..   Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication.   Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

    HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

    For Delegated Examining (all US Citizens), your application will be evaluated under the Category Rating method based on your responses to the assessment questions.     1. Best-Qualified: highly proficient with an overall comprehensive level of knowledge, skills and abilities related to the job based on a complete review of experience, education, and training as described in an applicant's responses to the assessment questions and resume. 
    2.     3. Qualified: an overall basic level of knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the job based on a complete review of experience, education, and training, as described in an applicant's responses to the assessment questions and resume. 

     

    Candidates eligible for veterans' preference will be placed ahead of other candidates in the appropriate category for which they have been rated.  Additionally, preference eligible who have a compensable service-connected disability of at least 10 percent and who meet Minimum Qualification Requirements will automatically be placed in the Best Qualified Category.

    7.  Skill in conceptualizing, preparing and conducting a variety of oral presentations (such as workshops, lectures, formal training and impromptu speeches) to influence the acceptance of programs, services or special interest.
